These guidelines keep our platforms free of clutter, drama, or shady behavior. If you’re here to engage, great. Read this first. Then dive into honest conversations and practical insights that help people travel smarter.
LWMF Travel was founded by Ozirian Velmyre in Wellfleet, Nebraska, as a resource for real-world travel advice, local adventures worth caring about, and safety-first planning. Whether you’re commenting on a Travel Buzz update or joining a trip discussion, these ground rules apply.
Be Direct, Be Useful
This community exists to help people travel better. Keep tips clear. Avoid vague encouragements like “go for it!” unless you’re adding something that helps the next person make a real decision. Share what you’ve learned, even if it was from a mistake—you’ll be helping someone avoid it.
We prefer posts that get to the point and answer the practical questions: where, when, why, how. Reference relevant articles—like Essential Trip Planning Tips or Packing and Safety Essentials—so people can dig deeper. Efficiency matters. Word count doesn’t.
Respect the Space
This isn’t your personal megaphone or a venting board. Don’t hijack threads, argue just to argue, or post snark. Trolling gets deleted fast. If you show up with kindness and clarity, we’re listening. If you show up to stir the pot, you’re out.
We welcome different viewpoints—especially around cultural norms, travel style, or destination comparisons—but respect is not optional. Disagree? Do it without nicknames, sarcasm, or attacks. Remember: tone travels poorly over keyboard.
Absolutely No:
- Racism, homophobia, transphobia, or hate speech of any kind
- Bullying, threats, or persistent negativity
- Self-promotion or affiliate links without permission
- Spam or off-topic nonsense—we’re not your ad platform
- Unsafe advice or misinformation
If you see any of the above, report it or email us directly at [email protected]. Silence isn’t neutral—it enables problems. Speak up.
Contribute With Credit
If you’re referencing someone else’s idea, give them the credit. Found a tip on Hidden Gems or Cultural Destinations and Experiences? Link to it. If you’re paraphrasing another traveler’s method—say that. This isn’t just about intellectual property. It’s basic respect.
All images or descriptions that aren’t yours? Attribute. Reposting without permission? Don’t. Want to publish or collaborate? Visit Share Voice or apply via Join Team.
Privacy Matters
Don’t post private data—yours or anyone else’s. That includes emails, addresses, ID numbers, bookings, travel companions’ names without consent. We don’t want to moderate a privacy crisis.
